WFC L - Flats Post Cooldown
نویسندگان
چکیده
Following recovery of ACS with Side 2 electronics the temperature setpoint was lowered from a nominal value of-77 C to-81 C for the WFC in order to minimize impacts of the continuously growing hot pixel contamination. The CCDs are expected to have changes of 1-3% in overall sensitivity, with some spatial dependence (Sirianni et al. 2006) – the latter is calibrated via changes to the L-flats. We find that required L-flat changes range from about 0.6% peak-to-peak at F435W to 0.15% at F814W. Separate ISRs will review evidence for possible pixel-to-pixel flat field and overall sensitivity changes post cooldown. L-flat changes for F435W, F625W and F814W are derived by comparison of internal tungsten exposures taken before and after cooldown. Flat field updates for other filters within this wavelength range follow from linear interpolation. New LP-flats with a separate useafter date have been delivered.

Pixel-to-pixel Flat Field Changes on the WFC
The pixel-to-pixel flat field changes noted by Bohlin and Mack (2005) for the WFC are further quantified. During each period between anneals, a population of pixels with lowered sensitivity develops which is largely reset by the next anneal. The sensitivity deficits are twice as large in the blue as in the red. The pixels with lowered sensitivity appear to be a unique set each anneal cycle, rat...
متن کاملACS L - Flats for the WFC
The uniformity of the WFC detector response has been assessed by using multiple dithered pointings of moderately dense stellar fields. By placing the same star over different portions of the detector and measuring relative changes in brightness, local variations in the response of the detector have been measured. The original WFC laboratory flat fields produce photometric errors of to percent f...
متن کاملFlats: Sbc Data from Thermal Vacuum Testing
The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) has three detectors: a large and a small format CCD (WFC and HRC), and a 1024x1024 MAMA Solar Blind Channel (SBC). During the Thermal Vacuum testing at GSFC in 1999 March, flats with S/N=100 per pixel were obtained for the six SBC filters and two prisms. The pixel-to-pixel P-flats are independent of wavelength to <1%. Because of a temperature dependence in ...
متن کاملACS Flat Fields and Low-order “L-flat” Corrections from Observations of 47 Tucanae
The uniformity of the WFC and HRC detector response has been assessed using multiple dithered pointings of 47 Tucanae. By placing the same stars over different portions of the detector and measuring relative changes in brightness, low frequency spatial variations in the response of each detector have been measured. The original WFC and HRC laboratory flat fields produce photometric errors of 6 ...
متن کاملPost-SM4 ACS/WFC Bias Striping: Characterization And Mitigation
The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) CCD Electronics Box Replacement includes a SIDECAR Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) that exhibits a low frequency noise (1mHz to 1Hz) on the bias and reference voltages it generates for the Wide Field Channel CCDs (Loose 2011). This noise contribution, first seen in thermal-vac testing, does not matter for bias voltages going to the CCD since ...
